POPLAR PARK EQUESTRIAN CENTRE
Poplar Park Equestrian Centre is located in a secluded and utterly breathtaking area of the Suffolk countryside. It is, quite simply, unmatched for the excellence of its hacking - and the going on the cross-country course is noted particularly because of its excellence despite poor weather which usually leads up to the event in March.
Facilities at the centre, run by Jim and Tricia Hardwick, include livery, schooling and qualified instruction to all levels. It caters for adults as well as young people and has horses and ponies for all abilities. There is an indoor school, a main outdoor manage, two outdoor sand schools and a cross country course as well as extensive hacking. Stabling is available both here and close by for event horses travelling to attend the Poplar Park Horse Trials.
Bed and breakfast for riders and their teams is also available locally and lorries can be parked on the site where supplies can also be obtained. Click HERE for more details.
The event is run by a huge team of volunteers who are, in turn, coordinated by a volunteer committee. The whole undertaking requires around 200 people per day to organise, including all of the support professionals required for safety reasons. The proprietors of Poplar Park, Trish and Jim Hardwick and their team of staff and volunteers spend the entire year making sure that the Cross country is up to scratch and discussions regarding new fences, improvements to old ones and reviews of the course begin, the minute the event has taken place for the year.
Many local businesses and supporters provide sponsorship both in money terms and in kind and there is always a good array of trade stands. Potential sponsors can see the options by going to the relevant pages on this website. Sponsorship may come in quite small amounts although generous sponsorship is always welcome!
